We headed out to Hilton Head National to celebrate a long Memorial Day weekend and were not disappointed. We booked a site in their adult only section which was pretty awesome. The entire park is new. While the sites are fairly close together, each site is beautifully landscaped with Magnolias and a variety of shrubs. The facilities were top notch! There were a couple of clubhouses and pools, one in the adult only section and one in their regular section. Each were designed to low country perfection.
When we arrived we met our neighbors who were traveling from Indiana and had just left the All Star race in North Wilkesboro. They were headed out to another must try campground for us, Talona Ridge RV resort in the Georgia mountains.
Unfortunately, we had terrible weather. There was a ton of rain and wind, but we were able to sneak in lunch in Old Town Bluffton at The Cottage Café and a quick flight at Hilton Head Brewing on Friday. Saturday’s weather was really bad so we found a brewery that didn’t serve food (dogs can be inside) a couple of miles from the campground. Sunday was the only day where we didn’t have any rain so we took full advantage of enjoying the campground. While it wasn’t warm enough for a pool day, we were able to take lots of golf cart rides, walk and explore the facilities, and see a baby alligator. We did have a couple of drinks at the bar in our clubhouse, which was fun. I can imagine how fun it would be on a weekend with better weather.
We hated to leave and are excited to go back!
